Fishing Licences

To fish in Ontario, you must possess a valid fishing license. Non-Resident fishing licenses may be purchased anywhere in Ontario before departing for Way North. It is important to carry your license with you at all times when fishing, in case that you are asked to show your license to a fishery officer. Anyone who lives outside of Canada is considered a non-resident for the purpose of fishing license regulations. Non-residents under 18 years of age may fish without a license if accompanied by an adult who has a recreational fishing license. Any fish caught are part of the catch and possession limit of the adult who holds the license. As another option, non-residents under 18 years may purchase a license and any fish caught apply to the catch and possession limits of that license.

SPORT LICENCE OR FULL LIMIT LICENCE - This type of license allows you to have 4 Walleye, and 2 Lake Trout in your daily possession. This includes your fish in the fridge, freezer, on your stringer and also fish eaten daily at shore lunch; these are all included in your daily catch limit.

CONSERVATION LICENCE - A Conservation Limit license allows you to have 2 Walleye, and 1 Lake Trout in your daily possession. This includes your fish in the fridge, freezer, on your stringer and also fish eaten daily at shore lunch; these are all included in your daily catch limit.

Upon the purchase of your non-resident fishing license you will receive a copy of the Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary. If you would like more detailed information before you arrive at Way North please review the Ontario Fishing Regulations Page

The conservation and preservation of our lakes and wildlife for our guests and residents is very important to us. We hope to encourage our guests to be environmentally friendly and purchase a Conservation Limit license and practice catch & release.
